Whose stori is it anyways?

This participatory workshop explores the relational aspects of the storying process. Emele Ugavule (Sauniveiuto, Serua, Fiji vasu Nukunonu, Tokelau kei Alele, Hihifo, Uvea), Makanaka Tuwe and Natasha Ratuva (iTaukei) from the Studio Kiin collective will guide attendees through an immersive experience. Incorporating Indigenous-led movement practices and collective reading and writing, Whose stori is it anyways? calls to the centre the relationship writers have with the themes, characters, communities, peoples and cultures they write about.

Virtual book launch: Kalokalo by Arieta Tegeilolo Talanoa Tora Rika

Studio Kiin are excited to share that we have started Rarama Ink, an independent publishing press with the support of our generous Boosted x Moana donors, The Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi and Creative New Zealand.

To celebrate Poetry month, join us on the 23rd of August to launch our debut publication - Kalokalo by Arieta Tegeilolo Talanoa Tora Rika - with conversation facilitated by Emele Ugavule and readings from guest poets from Aotearoa and Tonga.

Kalokalo, meaning stars in Vosa vakaViti, is Arieta Rika's first published collection of poems, spanning themes of motherhood, romance, friendship, grief, anger, healing, love.Published by Rarama Ink in collaboration with 5ever Books, edited by Emele Ugavule and Losalini Tuwere (Vosa vakaViti), and designed by Elsie Andrewes, Kalokalo takes readers on a journey through the galaxies of human emotion. Dedicated to her children, and an ode to her paternal island home of Fiji, Kalokalo is an intimate insight into the whispers of a mother to her child, a daughter to her father, reflections between sisters, lovers, enemies and friends.
